I wanted to share a little bit about my story.
During my last pregnancy I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. This completely stressed me out at first. I have a strong family history, with my parents, uncles and aunties all having type 2 diabetes.
I have always battled with my weight since my teens. I have previously become so stressed that I might be heading down the same path as my family, who have a long line of health issues and obesity, and this has made me eat more… Ahhh!Kelly lost 16kg and turned her health around after gestational diabetes diagnosis

Since having gestational diabetes, I had a realisation that I most likely have type 2 diabetes in my genes, and this placed an overwhelming responsibility in relation to what I have passed on to my children in their DNA.
After getting over the stress of this, I decided not to look at it as a negative thing in my life, but to see it as an opportunity. And I am choosing every day to be in the top 10% who will not get type 2 diabetes, by aiming for a healthy weight!
My weight is an indication of my health. If I reduce my weight by changing my understanding of what I am eating and by my physical activity habits, I will be doing one of the best things that I could possibly do for myself and my family. And RELEASING MYSELF from my weakness!
I am using this as a POSITIVE indicator to help get on track and continually stay on track, and NOT use that statement, “Why can they eat that and get away with not putting on weight?”.
I have a genuine understanding that I am giving my body something even better. HEALTH!!!
Not only am I helping myself, but I am teaching my children by my own actions and example, and they will look back on this for the rest of their lives and help them develop good habits too.
This understanding has not come overnight, but through a desire to not be limited by my past.
I started my Healthy Mummy journey at 85kg, and I am now down to 68.8kg.
I choose to lose weight slowly, as previously I have dieted and lost heaps of weight quickly through soup diets, fat blast tablets etc.… and then I have put it right back on!
Since being on the Healthy Mummy 28 day weight loss challenges I have lost this weight over 2 1/2 years and still counting, and have not put it back on!!! The reason I am doing this slowly is because I am continually working on one bad habit (and I have a lifetime of them!) using the Healthy Mummy products and resources, and retraining them into a good habit!
The best part about Healthy Mummy is that you don’t go without, you just learn and educate yourself how to eat better and exercise. I will never stop learning and transforming this area of my life!
