Hi ladies,
My name is Kellie and I have been one of your Motivating Mums this month. You can read about how I started my journey some 17.5Kg heavier than I now thanks to the Healthy Mummy 28 day weight loss challenges.
I have 4 children. 3 boys aged 11, 7 and 5 and a girl aged 10. I suppose it is expected that I should say that I began this journey for them, but in reality I am doing it for myself.
That may sound really selfish to some people, but by deciding to do this for myself, they are still benefitting greatly. They get a happier, healthier and more confident Mum that will willingly go out and do lots of fun things with them and no longer shies away from anything public to avoid feeling embarrassed. Our whole family has benefitted from this change in lifestyle.
And that’s really what following the 28 day weight loss challenge and smoothies is all about…..a new lifestyle not a fad diet.
I have been following the 28 day weight loss challenges for around 10 1/2 months and have lost 18kg. I am so thankful that I gave the challenges a go. I will use the tools I have learned for the rest of my life.
When I was chosen to be a Motivating Mum for this month I was very excited. I really wanted to share lots of the yummy meals and smoothies that I have had, some of my motivation ideas and my story. In doing this, I didn’t realise how much I would gain from it. It has helped me regain my motivation and focus more than I though possible. You can read about my mid month progress here.
I have a new drive to succeed and reach all my goals.
I have to admit that by the end of July I was hoping to have lost the last 2.5kg to reach my goal weight of 64kg, but as I have started to really focus more on toning and building muscle this month instead. I realise that the fat is probably going to be replaced by muscle so it’s not going to show on the scales. While it’s quite hard to not see the scales go down, I can feel and see my body changing, so I’m beginning to be ok with it. My tummy is getting tighter and my legs are getting slimmer and more toned. It’s actually really exciting seeing my body change and my dreams turn into reality.
It has taken me many years to realise that “skinny” and a certain weight doesn’t mean beautiful and it certainly doesn’t mean happy and healthy. It is the happy and healthy that I have decided I want, not the skinny. I realise that a happy and healthy place is different for everyone, so please Mummies, you decide what yours is. Don’t let others dictate what it is for you.
I can honestly say, that even though I still have some loose skin and places I still want to improve on, when I now look in the mirror I can see how far I’ve come and I’m proud of myself. I get a smile on my face and can look past those things. I am quite determined to never go back to the person I was 11 months ago. It actually really wasn’t that long ago, but feels like a lifetime ago.
Good luck to all you Healthy Mummy members on your Journey. Whether you are just starting, half way through, or nearing your ultimate goal weight, please remember that your journey isn’t about making anyone else happy. Love yourself enough to do it for YOU!
If you have a bad days, look at how far you have come and use that to motivate you to continue. And don’t forget to enjoy the ride!!
Thanks for having me as one of your July Motivating Mums. I have thoroughly enjoyed it.
xx Kellie
