Hi, I’m Kate, a mum of 3 working part time and I have lost 11kgs* with Lose Baby Weight.
I have struggled with my weight forever- never greatly overweight but not comfortable in my skin either. I have lost weight so many times, the most being 12kgs* after my second child but I didn’t learn much and my habits still remained.

I felt like I had no control when it came to food, exercise was sporadic and I had a chronic all or nothing mentality. I’ve never had trouble losing it but I’ve found it impossible to just maintain or feel like I’m healthy and in control.
I found Lose Baby Weight on Facebook, almost a year after I had my third child.
Her birth was massive moment as I had battled anxiety from my previous births and I didn’t think I would be able to have another baby. It took more than four years until I had the epiphany- if I let my anxiety stop me from doing things that I desperately wanted to do then I was going to miss out forever.
Once I was pregnant, the anxiety increased and I tried meditation. I had the most amazing, calm birth and felt on top of the world. I learnt that I could actually overcome the negative voice in my head, and shut it up completely!
Two weeks later I came crashing back to earth with postnatal anxiety and I was devastated. I realised that this would be a demon that I would always have and had haunted me since uni.
I sought help quickly and recovered but I know that my lifestyle will always impact my mental health. Life was great but I still felt completely out of control with my diet, which was then coupled with guilt over the example I was setting. I was lethargic, felt disorganised and getting frustrated with not feeling comfortable and confident.
I followed the page for a long time but was trying my old ways of losing weight and failing miserably.
When an invite to a family wedding arrived and I realised I was trying to find a cover-everything dress, I felt like I’d hit cross road- accept I would be bigger or do something about it for good.
I joined the 28 Day Challenge in February and haven’t looked back. I’ve learnt how to prep, how to be organised and cook ahead, plan my meals and enjoy food!
I’ve honestly never felt deprived and have loved the recipes, as have my family.
best ways to lose weight
The weight started coming off slowly but I felt a hundred times better immediately! After sticking with the 28 day challenge for a few months, I took the plunge and bought the smoothies.
I was hesitant as I’ve never really liked smoothies but realised that I was avoiding a lot of foods and drinks and needed to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. The smoothies have been amazing!
As someone who likes a large breakfast, they keep me full and are so convenient. I feel ridiculously happy now when I head off to work with my smoothie and packed lunch- it makes me feel so on top of things, as does coming home late and having dinner prepared.
I’ve also started running again, which I haven’t done seriously since before I had children.
Before I had our first child I was training fairly seriously and had visions of competing in triathlons. I’ve never found that groove again until now.
The inspiration from the running mums in the Lose Baby Weight Support Group got me out the door and I still can’t believe how much I enjoy it. Thanks to the mums here, I now push myself out of my comfort zone regularly and know that I’m growing all the time because of it.
Six months in I feel fit, strong, healthy and completely in control.
Lose Baby Weight has helped me sort through the world of sugar-free and paleo-type restrictive eating and learn about eating real, whole foods and learn balance for the first time in my life.
I have broken the binge eating cycle that was such a part of my life and I am no longer ruled by good food or bad food, it’s simply fuel that I can enjoy. I recently had the realisation that while I have good days and bad days these are not related to my body or to food. I decided bad food doesn’t make a bad day, and bad days don’t need bad food.
